The giving tree

For all those who don't know, I am addicted to collecting beautiful/ gorgeous children's books. A friend of mine recommended this book by Shel Silverstein, Its a fantastic book- I would recommend to young and old alike, the moral of the book is timeless. Beautifully written with simple and clean illustrations, the book crafts a beautiful story about a little boy, a tree, life and unconditional love. It also reminds us not to take the people we love for granted- nor the things they do for us.

This book reminded me of this beautiful cartoon I absolutely adored when I was a young, ( I haven't seen in since) finally found it on u tube, written by Walt Disney Its called "Lambert the Sheepish Lion'' I hope you enjoy it!

Illustration Friday - Flawed

Once upon a day, Far far away in a far off land was a strange little town that was flawed, even the towns name was indeed "Flawed Town". In this town the trees grew upside down, the birds swam in the lake and the fish flew in the sky. The houses in Flawed Town had lots of windows but no doors! The cars in the town would also drive upside down! ''Why what a strange little town'' you say, "How could anyone live here?". But to the people of this town, who have three eyes and ten little toes this is their home!

Tell me what can you find in this picture? I have half coloured in the drawing of "Flawed town" above. Just for bit of fun, you can download a PDF of this image, completely FREE! Colour it in any way you wish either on the computer or by hand and email it back to me. I will upload the best entries here...

look forward to what you come back with! x Kas

Alana Monet,

Happy Birthday Alana!

Eleven years ago today I became a sister because you came into the world, into my life, into my arms. You were so cute and little, I was the happiest and the most excited I have ever been! Ever since I was a little girl I longed to have a little sister like you!

When I first looked down at you, I held you in awe. I knew you were special. My passion for art, my joy for you a part of your life always, when I gave you your second name 'Monet'.

I love you! Your are a perfect little sister and a beautiful little girl, you are so kind hearted, generous and gorgeous, life is beautiful with you in it, my sister, my best friend.

I hope your eleventh year is all you imagined it to be!

With hugs and kisses and magical wishes, love always and forever

Illustration Friday: Contained

Well what started as a quick sketch for this weeks Illustration Friday Topic; "Contained" turned into few hours of ink work- a few hours of photoshop- and is now looking like two very cute little characters! (would be great as a kids book). Miss Emily Dickson and her dear, dear, friend Miss L. Bug. ( Of course L. stands for lady - and I'm sure she defiantly is a lady too) I can imagine endless walks in the park with lots of tea parties and delicious cucumber sandwiches while catching up on all the latest gossip;- who's playing at which park these days and who likes which boys at school?!

Presents.

This year for Christmas I decided to make something more personal for my friends and family. Which kept me very busy! I did a total of 27 Profiles! Everyone received a personal astrology/numerology framed picture, including their date of birth, a specially designed picture along with 3 special key words, a profile descriptor of their positive traits and personality, with a PANTONE colour guide specially designed for the individual! The picture above is the Profile I did for my friend Stacey. Her colour Is 'Evergreen', PANTONE 3292C. Her 3 keywords are; Solid, Creator & Contemplative.

On Christmas night, I did a fun little cook up with my two little sisters, Alana & Renee. We made little tea cups and saucers for Santa! so that he would leave the girls lots of nice presents in the morning. The girls loved making these and they were so simple to make ( which is even better!) they shared the rest of the teacups with the rest of the family Christmas day and they were a huge success - everyone loved them! (see below for recipe)

Little Teacups & Saucers
What you will need:
1. packet of Tick Tock biscuits  1 packet of Marshmallows
1 packed of Allen's Chocolate Freckles 1 packed of Musk Life savers.
1 tube of cake decorating icing

Method:
Carefully cut each of the Lifesaver rings in half (adult only), then you use the Cake decorating Icing around the bottom of a marshmallow. Proceed to place the Marshmallow icing side down onto a Tick Tock biscuit- creating the saucer & the cup. ( the icing will act to bind them together). Then place the Chocolate Freckle on the top of the marshmallows, using icing to bind, which created the frothy top of the tea cup. Lastly place icing on both ends of the half Musk live saver, then carefully position on the side of the marshmallow forming he handle for your tea cup.
