Be the first 5!

Paying It Forward...
While reading
kiss the birdie's beautiful blog and 3 sheets blog I came across this neat little idea and thought it would be fun to give it a go... now I will receive a handmade goody and in return the first 5 people who comment {and commit to the below terms} will receive a handmade goody from me! So.....

Here's the deal:

I am entering into the following contract with the
first 5 people who comment on this post and then commit to do the same on their blog. Just read below and if you feel up to the task copy the following into your blog and leave me a comment.
I am willing to post overseas (I am in the Australia, but remember you must commit on your blog to do the same to others).

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. Whatcha get is whatcha get.
2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
3. It’ll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Heck, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something strange.
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text on your blog and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your blog post.
7. Send your mailing address - after I contact you.
Welcome to everyone. I will however, make an effort to do something that you like based on what I see on your blog,
BUT there are no guarantees.
So that's that!!

Lots of fun!- wanna play?

My friend Mel.

A beautiful friend of mine sent me a quote today that I really needed to hear....
I thought I would pass it on and share it with all of you. x Kas

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others" - Marianne Williamson

I recently talked about my acceptance into the book publication of Curvy 6 2009, produced by Yen magazine, and about the pieces I was invited to submit for the opening exhibition that will tour around AUSTRALIA. The piece that was published is pictured above, entitled ''Eve" She is a delectable slightly unsettling, yet seriously cute little Eve girl character I created. Here she is laying down with her favourite yellow bunny toy on a textured backing. Below is the very large piece I created for the Curvy 6 exhibition of Eve, also I have included the concept sketch I did for Eve 2.

The giving tree

For all those who don't know, I am addicted to collecting beautiful/ gorgeous children's books. A friend of mine recommended this book by Shel Silverstein, Its a fantastic book- I would recommend to young and old alike, the moral of the book is timeless. Beautifully written with simple and clean illustrations, the book crafts a beautiful story about a little boy, a tree, life and unconditional love. It also reminds us not to take the people we love for granted- nor the things they do for us.

This book reminded me of this beautiful cartoon I absolutely adored when I was a young, ( I haven't seen in since) finally found it on u tube, written by Walt Disney Its called "Lambert the Sheepish Lion'' I hope you enjoy it!

Christmas presents!

I'm sharing with you these adorable 2 little toys I bought at the North Sydney market from 'mococo & poppet'. One for each of my sisters for Christmas this year! The black poka dot, button eye monster bear for my littlest sister Renee. While the cute little sausage dog is for Alana ( she absolutely adores dogs in every shape and form- even her first toy as a bub was a plush pup!) I think they will love them.... I know I do! The rest of the family are all getting the same present this year- just tailored to the particular person. I won't go into too much detail because my family also read this!

Holiday at Seal Rocks

WOW!........ I cannot remember the last time I went away on a holiday! A much deserved rest ( If I say so myself!) A friend of mine, Fiona and I headed up the coast approximately 3 hour drive north of Sydney AUSTRALIA to the beautiful crisp clean air and idyllic ocean views of Seal Rocks. We stayed in a little shack on the beach called "trade winds" - we were only there for a very short time ( 3 days and 2 nights) Yet we did get a fair bit done.I went fishing for the first time ( bought a little fishing rod from a local market) although I didn't catch anything except for some seaweed and a tan! I thoroughly enjoyed it. We also went and explored all around the area and took pictures along the coast line. The locals were so nice and friendly and accommodating! It reminded of what people were like where I grew up.
We also called in at a little toy makers cottage just inland from Sea Rocks "Sugar creek toy makers" a delightful couple Jan and Friedel Warmers with beautiful hand crafted old fashioned wooden toys and their studio open to the public- Jan served us while painting the toys in her work area, while Friedel was in the side room in his work shed, crafting the wood. I couldn't resist I needed to have one! Fiona bought a little wooden 'Faerie Lilly Pilly' for her god daughters birthday, while I bought a little 'Woman from the West'- from their famous period dolls- Just for myself! :)
"Woman from the West" - 1825 She crossed the mountains with her husband,
her children and a few possessions on a bullock wagon. She made her home, nursed her babies and helped clear the bush Enduring Tremendous Hardship and Loneliness. The Woman of the West’s partner doll is the Pioneer
